Door to Door in Sao Sebastiao

On Friday, we went and did some evangelism.  I would like to share a story about a time that we went door to door.  I was with two other IMPACT students, a translator and a couple members of the El Shaddai church.  We had been going door to door for about two hours, and we came to the last house of the day.  It was an older man, and he was working in his yard.  We asked if we could talk to him for a couple minutes and tell him our story of why we were there.  It began to rain so he said he wanted to listen but not while we were getting wet.  He invited us inside his house so we could talk.  The room we sat in was probably about nine feet by four feet.  It had a full couch, a dresser with a television on top, a washer and only about one foot by two feet of walking room in it.  We sat down, and JohnMark began to tell his testimony.  At the end, JohnMark asked if he wanted to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.  The man told us that he did not want to right now because he knew he would not live any differently.  He had heard the gospel before but he was not ready to believe it for himself.  He told us that one day in the future he might but not right now.  He wanted to wait until he would actually be changed by the gospel and not just make a hasty decision that would not change his life.  His honesty amazed me.  He did not want this to be a quick decision that did not mean anything.

When we left his house, I was talking to my friend about what had just happened.  I told her what happened back there was an example of the body of Christ.  Someone before us had planted a seed in his life.  Sharing the gospel is not about just one person.  It is not even about me.  It is about Jesus Christ and what He has done for us.  God can use anyone to plant that seed but ultimately God is the one who will change their life.  He chose not to accept Christ that day, but, I am confident that God used us just for a short time to water that seed that had been planted.  All of this reminded me of the bigger picture.  The picture of God's heart for the nations and how we all take part in changing lives.  Even to the point of God using multiple people to change one persons' life.  Let this encourage you, my friend.  We are apart of the body of Christ.  See the bigger picture and realize it is not about you or me or any other human being.  It is about Jesus Christ and He is the focus of the message of the gospel.  To Him be the glory in whatever He accomplishes through us.

P.S.  Thank you so much for all of your prayers.  We know God is using us in a mighty way and your prayers are definitely a big part of what we are accomplishing through Christ.  I have been very encouraged by Psalm 18 the past few days.  Take a moment and read that chapter as you pray for us here in Brazil.  May the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you today!

Thank you for sharing! What a blessing to know young people are willing to leave comforts of home in the USA and zealous to share the Gospel with people who can't even speak our language. May God bless you and your team and give you fruit for your labor! We are praying for all of you!
